About
The Scribbler

My name is Michelle and I live in Sedgefield, on the beautiful Garden Route. Being able to explore all the hidden gems of the Garden Route, has led me to starting up Garden Route Unearthed.
Here I will share all the things you can do when visiting the Garden Route.
I was born in the UK, but moved to KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa in 2010.
In KwaZulu-Natal, I qualified as a FGASA Nature Guide and worked with a tour operator, guiding guests in Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Game Reserve and iSimangaliso Wetland Park,
I am also a Photographer and as a photographer, I ran my own photography tours and courses around the province and further afield.
In 2016, my husband (Bryan) and I bought a small-holding in the Drakensberg, where we built self-catering cottages and set up and grew a successful accommodation business, before selling up and moving to Sedgefield and the Western Cape.

My passion for travel and photography and my thirst for adventure, have led me to explore many parts of the world and indeed to move to South Africa, in the first place.
Now, having sold our business and living in such an incredible area as the Garden Route, I have time to thoroughly explore what is around us and discover all the lesser known places that can be found on the Garden Route and its surrounds.
Everything I write about on this website and blog, I have experienced and visited, and my husband (Bryan) is my companion on these adventures, so I would like to introduce you to Bryan too, as he will be featuring in many of the photos.
Come along and share these adventures with me.
Michelle
