Buffalo Bay (Buffelsbaai)

What to do and where to stay in Buffalo Bay (Buffelsbaai)
Buffalo Bay (also known as Buffels Bay and Buffelsbaai) is a small seaside village located about 9kms from the N2 between Knysna and Sedgefield in the Western Cape.
It is a very popular holiday village with many holiday homes available to rent, two fabulous camping sites and a few bed and breakfasts available.
Buffalo Bay is the main beach to the east of the village. this bay is very sheltered and is ideal for swimming (although please be aware of strong currents and rip tides when swimming anywhere along the coast in the Garden Route), relaxing on the beach, paddle boarding and surfing. Paragliding is also possible of the dunes here, and the Buffalo Bay Trail, starts (or ends) on this beach.
The bay on the west of the village, named Wild side, is more rocky and less protected, with rocky ledges and outcrops that are ideal fishing spots.

The village of Buffalo Bay itself has two restaurants, a small store and Buffs Surf School.
Also located at Buffalsbaai is Goukamma Nature Reserve where you will find many hiking trails with breathtaking views.
The store is located next to the restaurant in the village and does have basic items, but I would recommend you buy your groceries in either Knysna or Sedgefield before you arrive at Buffalo Bay.
Buffelsbaai Waterfront Restaurant is located close to Buffalo Bay main beach and has wonderful views over looking the ocean and Brenton-on-sea in the distance.
Wildside Beach Restaurant is a restaurant located in the parking area of Wildside beach. They have delicious sushi and fish meals and a great beach bar vibe. It is well worth a visit.
