Breathtaking view, cool and funky or just a great relaxing spot for a coffee, in and around Wilderness.
These days we live in a world of Coffee Shop culture, so if you are looking for somewhere to relax and enjoy a tasty strong Americano, a frothy Cappuccino or heart-stopping Espresso, (or any of the other drinks coffee shops offer), as well as decadent and delicious sweet treats, and you happen to be in or near Wilderness on the Garden Route at the time of this craving, then check out these great spots!
The Green Shed

The Green Shed is in the centre of Wilderness and is a really cool and funky place.
Turn off the N2 into Wilderness Central and continue along the road, passing over the speed bump and ahead on your left-hand side you will see a road just before Pomodoro Restaurant.
Turn left here, on to Leila’s Lane, and just a little way up on the right-hand side, you will see The Green Shed Coffee Roastery
They have a huge variety of eclectic items dotted around the outside seating area, so no matter where you look, your gaze will fall onto something unusual, from old sewing machines, a number of different sized milk urns, a fake parrot in the tree and the most eye-catching of them all, the old red beetle car, that has now become a garden exhibit!

It is not just the outside seating area that has a vast array of things to look at. Inside, there are various health items to buy and some additional seating, but most importantly there is a the huge selection of different coffee beans available to choose from, including decaffeinated coffee options.
Once you have decided on your drinking option, be sure to also savour one of their tantalising pastries or cakes. Bryan and I decided to try the Chocolate croissant, and I can tell you the only thing we regretted, was not having one each!

If you find that your coffee is simply the best you have ever tasted, The Green Shed does also sell their coffee beans, so you are able to buy some beans and take a little piece of The Green Shed home with you.
Hoekwil Country Cafe

If you are traveling in the Hoekwil area (perhaps you have just been to enjoy a hike at the Woodville Big Tree) and you are looking for some light refreshments, or perhaps want to experience the most tasty cheesecake ever made, then take a stop at the Hoekwil Country Cafe.
The Hoekwil Country Cafe, has a delightful outside seating area as well as a play area for the kids.
The atmosphere is relaxed and tranquil and the garden has a beautiful array of different flowers and plants.
Inside there is a small shop with a huge assortment of different things to buy from home-made chutneys, jams and sauces to cookies and biscuits, as well as coffee and teas. And of course, the cheesecakes!
Bryan and I were visiting the Hoekwil Country Cafe for a bite to eat after indeed having just hiked the 7km hiking trail at Woodville Big Tree, so we ordered a panini each, I had a superb cappuccino and Bryan had a soft drink and we whiled away some time at one of the tables in the garden. The food was delicious, great value and the staff were super friendly.

Having heard about the incredible cheesecakes available at the Hoekwil Country Cafe, we decided to buy a couple of slices to enjoy at home later that day. We chose the BlueBerry Cheesecake and the Salted Caramel Cheesecake.
Sadly, I forgot to take a photograph of them, as I was simply in too much of a hurry to taste them!
They were absolutely divine, though and i would definitely recommend trying one (or a few), when visiting the Hoekwil Country Cafe.
Hallo Coffee
UPDATE @ 16h45 on the 19th November 2023
I have sadly just found out that Hallo Coffee has actually recently closed down, so I will have to go on the hunt for a new coffee spot, with breathtaking views! I will let you know when I have found the perfect place!

Hallo Coffee is located by The Map of Africa in Wilderness and it has the most spectacular view of any coffee shop I have visited so far.
Add to this incredible view, delicious coffee and scrumptious muffins and I am not sure you will ever want to leave!
Bryan and I were visiting Hallo Coffee on our way back to Sedgefield from George having just driven the 7 Passes Road.
The weather was a bit overcast, but still the view from Hallo Coffee was breathtaking.
We each ordered a Cappuccino and a muffin and sat at the high bar over looking the valley and the ocean in the distance.
For me, the coffee was one of the most tasty I have ever enjoyed and the muffin was so delicious, I felt naughty eating it!

Sadly for us, just after we had finished our coffee and muffins, it started to rain so we were not able to sit around and enjoy the view and relaxed atmosphere for long, nor could we have a look at the little garden nursery they have there.
Having said that, we will most definitely be returning many times to Hallo Coffee and I recommend you all go and see for yourselves, why Bryan and I love it so much.
